Welcome to Nirjhari

Nirjhari, a community of musicians and art lovers, promotes music on noncommercial basis so that musical expression is not limited. At Nirjhari, musicians' ability to collaborate comes first- whether their goal is to explore new, uncharted expressions in music or to preserve the musical style they perfected for future generations. Nirjhari makes it possible for you, the art lover, to support these musicians who share their music - professionally recorded and mixed songs as well as the rough audio clips they collaborate with. All music featured on this website can be downloaded for free and shared by listeners. However, some restrictions do apply for other uses; please refer to the icons associated with each track and their corresponding permissions under Creative Commons License

Psalms by Jerry Amaldev and Fr. Mathew Mulavana

Nirjhari's maiden venture, Psalms, is now available exclusively online. The attempt of Fr. Mathew Mulavana and Jerry Amaldev in composing these was to adapt Psalms to the literature and music of the land so that they remain true to the content and style of the original psalms -- beautiful Hebrew poems sung as praises, thanksgiving, lamentation, etc. We can say that these 10 psalms demonstrate the praxis of liturgical music in Indian context. The fecund lyrics of Fr. Mulavana which draws deeply from Sanskrit roots and the inimitable melding of eastern and western music traditions under Amaldev's baton have assured these psalms will be listened to repeatedly and the listeners' appreciation growing every time.
